20 Fair Deal
Программа, выдвинутая президентом Г. Трумэном [ Truman, Harry S.] в 1949 в Послании о положении в стране [ State of the Union message] в развитие "Нового курса" [ New Deal] его предшественника - президента Ф. Д. Рузвельта [ Roosevelt, Franklin Delano (FDR)]. Включала в себя предложения в области соблюдения гражданских прав, здравоохранения и сельского хозяйства; предполагала создание рабочих мест, увеличение минимальной заработной платы [ minimum wage], ликвидацию трущоб. Хотя Конгресс отверг большинство ее предложений, сочтя их слишком дорогостоящими, некоторые из них получили дальнейшее развитие, в том числе в Законе о жилье 1949 [Housing Act of 1949]. С началом Войны в Корее [ Korean War] в 1950 интерес к программе, как и к внутренней политике в целом, стал снижаться.
